Tools to Reduce Air Pollution

Industrialization gave way to evolution of certain species of animals and insects, such as the white and black moth during the Agrarian Revolution. It also increased air pollution and consequently accelerated the destruction of the ozone layer; the continuous development of industries and technology has led to increased vulnerability to effects of the ultraviolet rays from the sun. In order to combat the effects of air pollution, certain tools are in use.

    • Bright bulbs cause air pollution by emitting energy that splits particles in the environment. When these particles are split, they form other products such as particulate matter, which pollute the air. To reduce the rate of air pollution, scientists recommend using dim bulbs because they emit less energy, thus there is low particle splitting. Switching off bulbs when not in use also reduces air pollution.

    Efficient Fuel Burning Vehicles

    • Vehicles burning fuel incompletely release harmful products that pollute the air and the environment. Using vehicles fitted with additional emission control systems which are efficient in burning fuel reduces air pollution. Burning the fuel efficiently emits minimal volumes of byproducts like carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides. Vehicles fitted with emission control systems control the rate at which the harmful byproducts get into the environment.

    Recycling

    • Recycling centers on your home area can make good use of unwanted waste materials such as paper. Recycling reduces air pollution by re-utilizing materials that would have otherwise had toxic effects. For instance, recycling prevents the burning of paper which releases soot that would have otherwise caused air pollution.

    Non-Fuel-Consuming Tools

    • Using sources of energy that do not require fossil fuels is a tool to reduce air pollution. An example of a tool you can use to reduce air pollution is the solar panel. This tool does not require burning down fossil fuel to produce energy, as it utilizes energy from the sun. Natural gas can replace coal because it burns faster and its byproducts are less harmful than those emitted by coal. Producing electricity from hydropower projects and geothermal sources rather than generators also reduces air pollution. This is because generators produce carbon dioxide and sulfur oxides, which pollute the environment.
