Wood Furnisher Tools

Furnishing wood can pose health hazards if you are not well protected against the products of the process. A wood furnisher specializes in creating an attractive finish of any piece of wood work, be it sculptures, carpentry or wooden floors. A wood furnisher needs a number of tools to complete the task.
  1. Liquid Furnishing Tools

    • Liquid furnishers are the best way to complete your furnishing task. The liquid furnishers come as a collection of liquids that need consecutive application, to create a good and admirable look. The liquid furnisher is usually the deglosser, which removes any gloss used to preserve the wood; it also creates a larger surface area for attaching any liquid at a later stage. Finally, the furnisher applies a preservative to the wood to maintain its appearance.

    Screens

    • Screens are specifically for refurnishing wooden floors covered with a polyurethane finish on which no wax has been applied. The screen removes the polyurethane covering without cutting the wood itself. This is because it is made up of clog-resistant sand disks. The screens are easy tools to use, compared with the traditional drumming sanders that required much energy and dusted the rooms in which they were being used on wooden floors.

    Sanders

    • Floor sanders are for wooden materials coated with waxed polyurethane. This tool basically brings down the coating and creates a new surface for sanding down the materials to bore wood with minimum dents. Some wood furnishers avoid the sander because a slight mistake when using it might create a big difference in the final outcome of the wood material.

    Other Tools

    • Liquid wood furnishers, screens and sanders are not able to access all points of a wooden surface. As a consequence, you can use other tools to reach the points of the wood. You need a razor blade or scalpel to bring down the coatings of wood before furnishing it. Similarly, you require a vacuum cleaner to remove dust from the wooden surfaces to avoid creating dents resulting from the saw dust. Varnish is a protective liquid applied on the surface of wood to prolong its durability. Paint and paint brushes are also tools you use to apply liquid preservatives or paints after completing your furnishing work.
