Construction Technology Tools

Construction technology tools vary depending on the type of materials the building job requires. Tools for construction come in multiple categories including mixing, laying, cutting and digging tools. Construction tools minimize the amount of energy and resources construction tasks require for successful completion. From the simplest to the most complex, construction tools help to get the job done.
  1. Measuring Tools

    • Construction measuring tools are aluminum or wood in nature to prevent rusting. Measuring surfaces for levelness involves using a level, a flat tool that contacts a level in its center and generally on either end for measuring the level of a surface in either vertical or horizontal directions. The fluid takes center position in the level's oval like tube when on a straight surface or wall. A square measures right angles and short distances between blocky structures like staircases. Use a tape measure for long distance measurements, while a sliding bevel transfers equal angle measurements to a board or surface.

    Mixing tools

    • Cement, water, basalt and sand are building materials mixed with water for masonry or other construction jobs. Use wheelbarrows, buckets and shovels for manual mixing of concrete and use portable power mixers for producing medium amounts of cement. A power drum cement mixer mixes large quantities of concrete.

    Cutting Tools

    • Different types of saws cut different materials during construction. Crosscut saws cut with and against the grain of wood. A dovetail saw is meant for cutting narrow kerfs, whereas a keyhole saw is for cutting light metals and hard boards. Other saws such as the revolving saw and the saber saw perform heavy duty cutting tasks. The reciprocating saw cuts a variety of materials with its many blades.

    Digging Tools

    • Digging tools include air-vacuum excavation tools, hydro excavation tools and manual digging tools. Air-vacuum excavation tools are modern construction tools that minimize manual labor, while the hydro excavation tools use water under high pressure to erode tunnels. Manual digging tools include shovels, picks and spades. A protective covering, such as gloves, is required for reducing injuries on your body when working with digging tools.
