How to Make a Perm Fall out Faster

We’ve all been there. We have all suffered the horror of too tight curls frizzing out as though our scalps were fingered by lightning. A bad hair day is aggravating, true, but a bad perm borders on tragic. Fortunately for those who suffer the indignity of a hair permanent gone wrong, there are ways to make the dastardly mistake fall out faster than it normally would.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash your hair as soon as you realize the perm is not for you. Repeated washings will help rid you of an unwanted perm faster than its normal duration. Some recommend using Prell or Pert shampoo, as these are believed to be stronger formulated than most brands.

Condition your hair with coconut oil. Warm a generous amount of the oil and apply to your hair from the beginning of each curl until its end. Wrap your head in plastic wrap and allow the coconut oil to penetrate for two or more hours. Wash and rinse completely. You can repeat the process every couple of days as you work on loosening your perm.

    • 3

Use a hot flat iron on your hair to tame curls after washing and drying. Be aware that excessive use of heat can damage your hair, causing breakage and over drying, which makes hair brittle.

    • 4

Cut your losses. When other methods fail, consider cutting your hair ultra short (like Rihanna's). Don't worry: it always grows back and in the meantime you have a chic style.

Purchase a hair straightener. Ogilvie and other manufacturers sell products made to straighten hair. Consult your hair stylist prior to using one of these products. You don't want to put too many chemicals on your hair within a short amount of time.
