Learn about each learning style. Knowing the specifics of each learning style will allow you to more accurately place yourself in a particular category. However, keep in mind that many people may overlap between two different categories.
Reflect on your past learning experiences. Did you tend to do better by listening to lectures? Did you love group work and hands-on projects? Or did you prefer to watch movies or see visual aids when you were learning about a new subject? Your answers to these and similar questions should provide you clues to your preferred learning style.
Take a quiz. If reflecting on your past learning experience doesn't provide a clear-cut answer to what your preferred learning style may be, there are many online quizzes that can help, such as the learning style quiz found on Petersons.com or the questionnaire found on VARK-learn.com.
Solicit feedback from others. If you're having a difficult time finding your learning style, you may want to consider asking family members, friends or previous teachers what they think your preferred learning style may be. Getting outside opinions can be useful in determining your learning style.
