How to Convert Ppm to M3

Both parts per million (ppm) and milligrams per cubic meter (mg/m3) measure gas concentration and pressure. Just as the word "percent" indicates the number of items out of 100, ppm indicates the number of items out of 1,000,000. Due to the number of variable factors involved in calculating ppm, the surest method for accurately converting from ppm to M3 is an online conversion tool designed for precisely that task.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to the Lenntech website (see Resources). Lenntech created a free online converter for ppm conversions.

    • 2

Select whether your measurement of ppm in volume, moles or weight in the first drop-down menu.

    • 3

Select whether you measured ppm in air or water in the second drop-down menu.

    • 4

Select your gas under "Molecular Weight" in the drop-down menu. The site automatically provides the molecular weight of your selected gas to the right of the menu.

    • 5

Click the button next to "expressed in units of ppm." Next, enter the ppm you want to convert in the window to the right of the button.

    • 6

Click "Convert." Your converted total in mg/m3 will appear in the "Converted Concentration" row.
