Decide what you need the grant money for and how much you need. Some grants give a limited amount of money and you are expected to contribute the rest.
Go to the Canadian government website and click on the language in which you want to read the information: English or French. Then click on the "Service Canada" link on the sidebar. Go to the right section for the grant you are looking for. If you are a person who has a disability and want to open a business, then you will want to click on the "Opportunities Fund" link under "People with Disabilities" heading.
Click on the link that is most appropriate to your situation. If you are not affiliated with an organization or employer, then you may want to click on the "Financial Assistance" for Individuals link. Read the information carefully on this page to make certain that you are eligible for this grant. To be eligible, you must have a permanent physical or mental disability which restricts your daily life. You must also be legally entitled to work in the country, unemployed or working less than 20 hours a week.
Note that the grant covers only certain things such living expenses while you train to open your business. The grant may also cover the training itself. Money for starting your business, such as paying employees, leasing property, and other costs, will have to be covered by other means.

Go to the ecoEnergy grant site to get information on how your company can become eco-friendly. Write the term "ecoEnergy grant" into the search field of your browser, and the website link should appear. Go to the link referring to Industries.
View information on the amount of grant money that industries are able to get for retrofitting their facilities with energy efficient machinery and systems. For each grant application, 25 percent of the project costs can be covered up to $50,000. Also, the grant may total $250,000 for each corporate entity. Companies eligible for the grant are medium and small companies which are approved for funding by the Natural Resources Canada, and meet other requirements.
Apply for the grant by clicking the "How to Apply" link. Submit an electronic request to get the application form and guide. With the application, put documents such as calculations of the project's cost and supplier quotes on their letterhead, installation costs and other information.
Complete the application and turn in all necessary materials to the Natural Resources Canada address.
