Online Keyboarding Programs

The basic QWERTY layout of the typewriter---now an integral part of the modern keyboard---remains the same since it was introduced in the 1870s. College students, bloggers, writers, and anyone who wishes to maximize their time can learn how to "touch type." Touch typing, or typing with both hands while looking at the screen and not the keyboard, is fast and efficient. Web based tutorials and programs exist for those with both novice and intermediate skill levels.
  1. EduTyping

    • EduTyping provides a standard, online-based keyboarding course for middle and high school students and a junior curriculum for elementary school students. The grading is automatic, and students receive immediate feedback.

The EduTyping Standard Curriculum contains lessons on typing letters, common symbols, and numbers on the numeric keypad. Students begin with a review of the "home" row keys, and review lessons cover all keys learned.

The Junior Curriculum presents new keys by row and focuses on high frequency words. Lessons highlight basic finger placement and continue to the typing of words, sentences and capital letters.

Both curricula offer practice libraries and timed drills, and EduTyping offers a free 30-day trial for teachers and administrators.

    Sense-Lang.org
