Use a professional graphic design program like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign or Corel PaintShop to create the logo. To get a good, well-designed logo, avoid the limited image editing programs that come with your computer software.
Use the colors of the organization in your design. The logo is an important part of developing a brand, so use some combination of the colors in your design to create a connection in the minds of consumers.
Look at information about the organization. Besides the color and name, let the slogan, personality and theme guide you in creating the logo. For instance, a kid's store has a light-hearted, fun and child-like theme.
Select a bold font that is simple to read. Instead of using a standard font that comes pre-installed with the graphic design software, sort through less common fonts for sale online that you feel will fit the image of the organization. For instance, if you plan to open a flower shop, you might focus on fancy script fonts or even specialized decorative fonts adorned with small images of flowers. Other font types include modern, old style, serif (accents on the ends of the words) and san serif (no accents).
Highlight the text of your logo in some way to make the words stand out, if your graphic design program permits. For instance, some programs allow you to add a shadow and glow behind the words.
Select one image to use with your logo. Cramming multiple images into the design can make the logo confusing and less distinctive. If you include an image, use a simple outline of a shape or graphical drawing instead of an actual photo. It is also fine to create a logo without an image --- just your text.
