Position your pencil at the intersection point of the left most vertical line and the lowest horizontal line on your graph paper. Draw a small dot at the intersection point. Call this point A.
Draw a dot at the intersection point of the horizontal grid line immediately above point A and the vertical grid line immediately to the right of point A. Call this point B.
Draw a line starting at point A along the straightedge so it passes through point B and extends to the edge of the paper. Call this the AB triangulation line.
Draw a dot one grid mark to the right of point A. Call this point C. Draw a dot one grid mark to the right of point B. Call this point D. Draw a line that extends through points C and D to the end of the paper. Call this the CD triangulation line. Repeat this procedure, moving one grid mark to the right and drawing the triangulation line until you reach the last grid mark on the right end of the graph paper.
Darken the lines within the drawn triangle mesh that will form a darker triangle that encloses 6 smaller, lighter triangles. Systematically create a row of these darker enclosing triangles using the lighter triangles as your guide. Create another row of darker triangles on a different section of the paper that enclose five lighter triangles each.
