The CNA Exam Requirements in Virginia

Certified nursing assistants (CNAs) help take care of patients in hospitals, nursing homes and long-term care facilities. They change sheets and bed pans, help patients bathe and eat, and take pulses and measure a patient's blood pressure. Those who choose this challenging job, will be rewarded with excellent job prospects, according to the Virginia Nursing Schools website. If you are interested in becoming a CNA in the state of Virginia, you must take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) exam.
  1. Education

    • Graduate from an accredited nurses aide education program. These programs can be found at community colleges, technical schools and hospitals. CNA programs consist of six weeks of study and clinical experience under the supervision of a registered nurse.

    Exam Application

    • Fill out the CNA exam application. You must do this before you can even schedule your exam. Applications can be found at www.pearsonvue.com or by calling 800-758-6028. In your application packet, you must include a copy of your CNA certificate or a letter on your school's official letterhead that you have met the educational requirements.

    Convictions or Felonies

    • If you have any drug convictions or felonies, you may still take the exam. However in your application packet, you must document that you have completed all court orders and that you no longer abuse drugs.

    Notary Public

    • Before you send off your completed application, you must sign it before a notary public.
