The Detective Training Institute claims to be the best private investigator training school in the United States. The program includes actual investigative assignments including vehicle and foot surveillance, background checks, criminal history checks, license plate tracing and locating missing persons. The school gives students up to 24 months to complete the course, but the average completion time stands between three to six months. The course comes in seven units, which include such topics as investigative records and resources, private process servers, undercover operations, legal investigations, arson investigation and skip tracing, and bounty hunting. The school also offers discounts on high-tech equipment used during private investigative case work, although it is not required to take the course.
