Offering students one-year certificates in nail technology with an intensive 350-hour program, Land Lake College is in Mattoon. This two-year public college also has a career services office that helps students create effective resumes and cover letters so they can find a nail technician job after graduation. The nail technology program instructs students on nail structure and removal, paraffin treatments, how to open a nail technician business, nail removal techniques and nail wraps. After the student completes the nail program, she will be able to take the Illinois State Examination for Nail Technicians.

The nail technology program is a 350-hour course that covers manicuring, nail removal, nail sculpting procedures, hand and foot massage, business ethics for nail technicians and nail fabric techniques. Students also learn how to apply gel products to nails while working with modern apparatus. After completing the nail technology program, the student will be able to take the state board examination.

To train students in the skills necessary to pass the state board examination, this school features a 350-hour program that instructs students on nail polishing techniques, nail wrapping procedures, proper nail care and maintenance and nail tip removal. The school awards a $500 scholarship each month to one student in the nail technology manicuring program.
