Instructions

Use your fingernail and scrape the beginning of the lettering, for example at the top of the “L” or whatever letter it may be. Many times this will come off easily, and may peel completely off. This is due to the clear coat applied over the original paint which creates a buffer between the paint and the lettering, and makes it easy to peel off stamped or some painted lettering.

    • 2

Dab a small amount of scratch removal compound onto a rag, and wipe it over the lettering. Let it dry for about five minutes. If the lettering is painted on, use mineral spirits and rub gently and let it dry.

    • 3

Place a fresh dab of scratch removal compound or mineral spirits onto the rag, and rub it onto the lettering, up and down, and side to side, applying hard pressure until the lettering disappears.

    • 4

Wipe the area clean with car wash soap and rinse, then look for any remaining paint from the lettering. You can typically pick off the remaining pieces with your fingers.

    • 5

Wash, dry and wax the area after all the lettering is removed. You can then wash and wax the entire vehicle, and you'll now be free of any painted names or logos.
