Discovery Detective Academy offers traditional training in its Scottsdale, Arizona, classrooms, or via the Internet. The school offers more than 427 hours of intensive training, and you can earn a diploma in five months. Course modules include criminal/civil law, forensics, field ops and in-house investigation. The school's instructors are working professionals, and most have decades of experience--all meet Arizona and California teaching requirements. The Arizona Board for Private Post-secondary Education and the Arizona Department of Education licenses Discovery's Professional Investigator course.
Detective Training Institute is based in San Juan Capistrano, California, and offers home study opportunities. The course features 35 printed lessons in conjunction with videos, tapes and field exercises. AS of 2011, the school's director and owner is a state-licensed private investigator with over 30 years of experience. Students will learn background investigation and research, skip tracing and locating missing persons, and surveillance and business crime investigation, among other disciplines. DTI is approved by the California Bureau for Private Post-secondary and Vocational Education.
Global School of Investigation, based in Nashua, New Hampshire, is a distance learning school with graduates in 50 states and 76 other countries. In addition to online training, it offers hands-on experience. Its instructors boast more than 85 years of combined experience and operate PI agencies in four different states. Lessons include surveillance, missing persons and skip tracing, internal security and bodyguard training, and self-defense, among others. The school is an accredited member of the American Society for Law Enforcement Training (ASLET) and the Association of Former Intelligence Officers (AFIO).
