This agency was founded in 1957 and is a private, non-profit home care agency for elderly, disabled and chronically ill people in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. It's licensed, insured and accredited by the Joint Commission (JCAHO). The agency provides training through their school, licensed by the District of Columbia. They offer courses in home care skills leading to the Home Care Aide certification. The course provides hands-on training, lectures and audio-visual presentations as components of the curriculum. At the end of the program, students must demonstrate the skills learned while under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and them complete a written exam. Part of the program includes two days working under supervision in the homes of actual clients. Upon successful course completion and passing the exam, students receive national certification as Home Care Aides. The center offers scholarships to help students with tuition payments when needed and employment opportunities are available at Home Care Partners for qualified students.
This is a training company founded by Brigitte Prince, a professional senior care consultant with experience in all aspects of home care giving and a member of the National Family Caregivers Association. It includes testing materials; an e-tutor is available to answer questions and help with coursework. The cost for the home study course is $125 and upon successful completion, the student is awarded a Certificate of Completion by the center. The E-book study materials are provided in four languages.
The training center provides home care programs that focus on specific areas such as caring for bedridden clients (feeding, dressing, sponge baths, and more), transferring a client from the wheelchair to a bed or car, how to use a Hoyer lift for all types of disabilities including quadriplegics, taking care of family members at home and CPR/First Aid Training. Classes are offered on Saturdays and upon successful completion of the program, the student is awarded a certificate of completion. The caregiver program tuition cost is $225.
