For safety reasons it's best not to weld in wet conditions. However, stick welding in wet conditions is not entirely implausible. Sometimes it is necessary to make repairs in the rain and stick welders are particularly well suited for working in the outdoors. Take the appropriate safety precautions and shield yourself and the work in the best possible manner.

Cover the area with a tarp to serve as a shield against inclement weather.

Wear the appropriate welding gear to reduce your risk of injury. Wear rubber gloves, rubber boots, thick, protective clothing, and a welding mask.
