How to Write a College Information Seminar Flyer

The right flyer can attract people to a college information seminar in large numbers. Learning about college is important to high school seniors and their parents, but there are a plethora of places they can go to get the information they need. Word your seminar flyer in a way that makes readers feel you have something they can't get anywhere else. Seminar attendees will be attracted to your offer of information, food, prizes and fun.

Instructions

Think about your target audience and word your flyer accordingly. Are you marketing to parents? High school seniors? Teachers? Write your flyer with your intended reader in mind. For high school students you might write, "Know which classes to catch when the parties are over." For parents you might write, "We'll take good care of your kids." Create different versions depending on your audience, and post them where your intended reader will see them. You might want to place flyers for parents around the financial aid office and flyers for students around the dormitories. Flyers for teachers would do well posted near the administration building.

Answer the question, "What will this seminar be about?" on the flyer. Do this in a few short phrases. For example, "College Information Seminar---Financial Aid, Housing Options, Course Selections---Academic Counselors Will Be on Site."

    • 3

Use a font small enough that all the important information is included, but large enough to be legible. Ensure that the flyer still has empty space. Crowding the flyer with too much print might make readers feel like the seminar will be overwhelming, or like they don't need to attend because all the information was already included in the flyer.

    • 4

Print the date, day, time and location of the seminar in a prominent location on the flyer. For example: "College Information Seminar: Saturday, July 9th, 2011, 5pm. West Pavilion Lawn."

    • 5

Indicate whether goodies or other incentives will be provided at the seminar. For example: "Refreshments! Door prizes! Raffles! (While supplies last, so come early!)"

    • 6

Leave contact information so that readers can address any questions or concerns they have. For example, write: "Questions? Comments? Please call Nicole Wood at ext. 6539, or email [email protected]."

Use creative colors and graphics to make the flyer appealing.
