It's tempting to eat fast food and cut back on sleep. It seems like you're never finished with your homework and there's always a party to attend. You don't want to miss anything. However, if you don't eat to fuel your body, you will get sick and jeopardize your chances of success in the classroom. Make healthy choices at the cafeteria and plan for weekend meal times when the cafeteria isn't available. If you don't have a plan, you will grab the junk in the brown greasy bag because it's quick. Plan your schedule so that you get plenty of sleep. You will be more alert in the classroom and even enjoy your parties more.
Early in the semester, find three quiet places to study on campus. If you live in a dorm room on campus, chances are it will be noisy. A place full of distractions and noise will leave you confused and frustrated. The school library and empty classrooms are good choices for places to do your homework.
Don't sit on the sidelines and miss all that college life offers. Join a club or activity that interests you. Instead of feeling like a social outcast, you'll make friends who are interested in something you enjoy. Participating in clubs or organizations you enjoy will also provide welcome stress relief and recreation.
With the new freedom you have in college comes responsibility. It may seem tempting to shut off the alarm and go back to sleep, but every class you miss significantly lowers your chances of passing the course. Most college courses move at a rapid pace. Catching up from a missed class can sometimes be impossible. Don't miss a class. Pay attention and ask lots of questions. This will reduce your needed study time and help you feel less stressed.
