Instructions

    • 1

Introduce yourself to the classmates sitting close to you before class. Ask if they want to form a study group that meets once a week outside of class.

    • 2

Compile a list of phone numbers and email addresses of classmates interested in a study group. Contact each person and decide on a time and a place for the group. Good places to meet and talk are coffee shops, study rooms in the library, or even personal apartments or homes.

    • 3

Send out reminder messages before each meeting to help boost attendance. When at the study meeting, try to talk about events coming up at school or in the community. Don't be afraid to try and get a group activity night started with your study group. Offer to carpool with your classmates to school or other events.

    • 4

Get involved in your school's clubs or sports programs. Most colleges have many different clubs that welcome all interested members. Many of these clubs have specific themes, like exploring the outdoors, playing games like pool or ping-pong, or even celebrating cultural heritages like Italian or French. These programs are effective ways to meet fellow students with similar interests.

    • 5

Get a part-time job on campus. Many jobs on college campuses only employ students. Working at one of these places will help you meet new people. Coworkers at many different jobs often like to get together outside of work for fun events, so don't be afraid to invite your colleagues out after work.
