Ideas for February College Bulletin Boards

February is full of holidays from Groundhog Day to Valentine's Day to Presidents Day, along with a host of unusual holidays such as Kite Flying Day on February 8. In addition to the holidays, February is also known as Black History Month and American Heart Month. All of these holidays provide a wealth of ideas for college bulletin boards.
  1. Famous Couples

    • Since Valentine's Day falls in February, create a bulletin board of famous couples. Include famous couples in history, such as Antony and Cleopatra; in literature, such as Romeo and Juliet; and celebrity couples. Obtain pictures of on-campus couples from students, and create a section of the bulletin board called Famous Couples on Campus.

    Valentine's Day Shout-Outs

    • Create a Valentine's Day themed bulletin board to place in a student center or activity room of a dorm and include Valentine's Day messages to students on campus. Student organizations can sponsor the bulletin board and sell the shout-outs for $1 to raise money. Students can purchase the shout-outs to declare their love for a crush or a significant other or simply tell a friend how special she is.

    Healthy Hearts

    • Create a bulletin board with tips on how students can keep their hearts healthy through exercise and healthy eating. Add statistics about how stress, die and exercise and heart problems affect college students. Partner with the school of medicine to interview a doctor or professor about heart health and post the transcript of the interview on the board.

    Unusual Days

    • February, like every month, is full of unusual holidays. Find out some of those holidays and post them on the bulletin board to give students a reason to celebrate on random days of the month. Some holidays to add to the board include Thank a Mailman day on February 4, Kite Flying Day on February 8, Make a Friend Day on February 11 and Hoodie Hoo Day and Cherry Pie Day on February 20.

    Famous African Americans

    • Since February is Black History Month, create a bulletin board representing famous African Americans. Designate half of the board to recognize African Americans alumni of your college or university. Include authors, athletes and those who have made a small difference that would otherwise go unnoticed.
