How to Fill Out Loan Forbearance Forms

Loans must be repaid regardless of your personal or financial circumstances. If you are unemployed or experiencing financial difficulties, you have alternatives to foreclosure, bankruptcy or defaulting on loans. One way is to apply for a forbearance, which will postpone or delay your loan payments for a set period while you get back on your feet. Forbearances are commonly granted for student loans and mortgage loans.

Complete the student loan forbearance request form. In addition to identification information, the form will ask you to specify the reason you're requesting the forbearance and to indicate whether you wish to postpone loan payments altogether or make smaller payments. Also, explain how long you want the forbearance to remain in effect by filling in the desired start and end dates. Sign and date the form to acknowledge that you've read, fully understand and accept the terms and conditions that apply to the forbearance request.
