How to Find Full-Ride Geography Fellowships

Most jobs in the field of geography require advanced education. Whether your goal is to work for the government, in a research institution, at a university or for a private company, you will likely need a graduate degree, if not your doctorate. Fortunately, because of the high demand in the field of geography, there are a number of fellowships designed to help students finance a higher education and encourage students to pursue vocations in geography.

      Apply for a fellowship through Lambda Alpha International. Lambda Alpha administers research grants for geography through the Land Economics Foundation, a nonprofit organization which promotes the study of land economics and geography.

      Contact the U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation, which provides fellowship support to students entering the field of geospatial intelligence. Deadlines for the scholarship are typically in early May.
