Bring up the website you cited in your research. Go to the page with the source you used. If the source is multiple pages long, you still go to the first page of the document.
Find the name of the author of the piece. Cite the author's last name, followed by his initials. For two authors, use an ampersand between the names. For three to seven authors, use a comma between successive authors except for the last author, whose name should be preceded by an ampersand. If it is a piece by an organization, cite the organization as the author. If you cannot find the author's name, start the citation with the web page title.
Find the date of publication of the work. If the page has been updated, use the date of the latest update in your citation. Cite the date in parenthesis, with the year and then the date. For example, (2011, Jan. 1). If no date is available type "n.d." in parenthesis.
Find the title of the document and put it after the date. The title should be at the top of the page or article. If citing an article within a larger website, give the title first, than the name of the website.
Copy the URL from your browser's navigation bar. Type "Retrieved from" and put the exact URL following it. This is the final step to citing in APA style.
Cite the name of the author or editor of the piece, last name first. If no name can be found, skip this step.
List the name of the website or, if you are citing a specific piece, the title of the article. If citing an article, start with the title, then cite the website name. Put in the version number, if it is available. If you know the name of the publisher, put it next. If no publisher is available, type "n.p." You do not need to cite the URL.
Add the date of publication.Use the format date, month and year, or month and year if the date is not listed. For example: 1 January 2011. If the date of publication is not listed, type "n.d." instead.
Cite the medium of publication and the retrieval date. The medium of publication for a website is "Web." The retrieval date is the day you accessed the information as part of your research. Write the retrieval date in the date, month and year format.
