Determine the topic of your 10-page term paper. This is the most important part of the overnight process, because you want a topic that is broad enough to cover ten pages but detailed enough to be subdivided into three or four distinct sections. Don't skimp on time in this section.
Subdivide the topic into its sections. Consider how you might write a two- or three-page paper about each section (depending on how many sections you've chosen). The beauty of this technique is that you can consider each section independently and develop it as its own distinct small paper.
Write a long and detailed introduction. This is a good place to try to use up as much space as you can. If your introduction is detailed enough, it might even be one page long. Remember to highlight each of your sections in the introduction.
Write each section of the paper. Consider each section a separate paper. Write its introduction, body and conclusion. Because each section is distinct from the others, you can include a section heading for each one. Center the heading. Separate it from the text above and below it by a few spaces. The spacing and heading titles alone can use up a good deal of page space.
Consider using block quotes. Most professors, of course, recognize block-quoting as a way for students to use up term paper space without actually saying anything. However, if your block quotes are related to the text of your paper, and if you discuss them in detail, no professor can fault you for using them.
Use footnotes. If you cite a source or have additional comments to make about any part of your paper, you can use up a good deal of space in the footnotes section. Just be sure not to overdo the footnotes. These sections should never be longer than the sections of text in your paper.
