How to Write a College Business Information Systems Test

When students take a business information systems course, they learn how to fix computer hardware and software systems. They may get a job as a computer operator, computer programmer, software engineer, network manager or a technical support provider. This is a vital course for computer majors, and the test students take should measure their knowledge. The following will help you write a college business information systems test.

Instructions

    • 1

Review your lesson plans and the material that you taught during the period you are testing. Write down the important points that need to be covered on the business information systems test. Later, you will make these into questions.

    • 2

Figure out the type of questions you want to use on the test. You can make your questions multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, essay or problem-type questions. You can use any combination of these, or you can make them all one kind.

    • 3

Make questions from the points you made in step 1. Decide the type of question each should be.

    • 4

Check the material again. Be sure you have covered all the important points in the questions you have made. Add any questions you may have missed. If your teachers' book gives you questions for the material covered, see if they will fit into your business information systems test.

    • 5

Assign values for each question. Although you may want to take the number of questions, divide it into 100, and make each question that value, this is not the way to assign values. If you have 25 questions, the obvious value would be 4 points for each question, but an essay or problem question should be worth more than a multiple-choice or a fill-in-the-blank question. Therefore, you need to value each question and assign the appropriate amount.

    • 6

Type up the test and make enough copies for your students. Make an answer sheet with the assigned values for each question. Remember to make allowances for partial answers.
