How to Make a College Catalog

College catalogs provide information about schools. This information helps students and their parents decide which college or university best suits their needs. Catalogs include information regarding courses, student life, security and living arrangements. They provide a basic idea of what life at that college is like for students.

      Write brief descriptions for all desired information to be included within the catalog. Include courses and programs, residency, student life, activities, sports, health and security available at the school. Descriptions should be short and to the point.

      Collect pictures of the campus and students for use in the catalog. Choose only those that accurately portray positive views of the school. Pictures of student activities and sports are options. Other choices include pictures of student housing, campus life, library and classrooms.

      Design the catalog layout. Group types of information into sections. Section examples include courses, program, campus life, student housing, activities, policies and procedures. Arrange text around pictures to incorporate a visual example of what can be expected at the school. Create a table of contents for quick access to specific information.

      Add contact information for the school. Include the address of the campus, telephone number, email and web site address. Information about the professors, administrators and support staff employed at the school maybe added to the catalog displaying staff achievements and credentials. Once complete proofread for errors and correct if needed. Print the final product for distribution.
