Behavioral science is the study and exploration of all the activities and interactions among organisms in the natural world. It is an investigation and analysis of animal and human behavior, which is normally done through controlled experimental observations.
The behavioral science degree requires a lot of science-based classes, including psychology, biology, genetics and chemistry. Other classes include aspects of history and sociology.
The top career field for most people who study behavioral science is social work but other related careers are criminal profiling, market research and anthropology.
A bachelor's degree in behavioral science may not be enough to get a job in the field. Most jobs require master's degrees and certifications. The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that although a bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement, many positions require a minimum of a master's degree in social work or a related field.
Some schools offering graduate studies in this discipline are the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Nova Southeastern University Center for Psychological Studies, University of Wisconsin--Madison School of Human Ecology and the Northeastern University Bouve College of Health Sciences.
