What Type of Job Requires a Bachelor's Degree?

A bachelor's degree is a college degree that you traditionally complete in four years. It requires coursework in liberal arts and sciences. Students are also required to complete about a year of class work in a specific area called a major. Many jobs require applicants to have a four-year college degree.
  1. Teaching

    • Nearly all public school districts require teachers to have a bachelor's degree. Potential teachers are advised to major in education and minor in the subject they would like to teach. A chemistry teacher should have at least 12 to 18 "credit hours" of college-level chemistry.

    Medicine

    • Many medical careers require job holders to have at least a bachelor's degree. Registered nurses can enter the field with only a two-year degree, but many nurses choose to complete an additional two years of education to earn a larger salary and increase their chances of being promoted. Clinical laboratory technicians perform medical tests and analyze the results. A degree in biology or similar health science is required for that job.

    Nutrition

    • Dieticians and nutritionists work with hospitals, schools and patients to create menus that meet certain dietary requirements. A dietician is required to complete a bachelor's degree in the field of food science. Many dieticians take additional coursework to study specialized diets, such as those that diabetics need.

    Finance

    • Finance jobs traditionally focus on statistical analysis of financial data and management of risk. Accountants make sure that companies comply with financial laws, and also help individuals with their taxes. To become an accountant, you must complete a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting and pass certification exams. Economists study economic conditions and focus on the implications of many fields, such as employment. Many economists work for the government.

    Real Estate

    • A real estate appraiser helps determine the values of houses and land. They may start their own company, become a member of a firm or work for the government. Along with a bachelor's degree, you'll need state licensing and certification.
