How to Create a Test to Embed in a Website

There are many online learning programs that allow students to attend classes remotely. In fact, 40 percent of professors have taught online, according to a survey by Primary Research Group. As the instructor or administrator, you need a way to allow students to take a test online as well. Posting a test on your website is also useful if you have an online service that asks users to take an entrance exam or skills test as a requirement of admittance to your program.

Instructions

    • 1

Find and sign up for an account with an online service that will allow you to compose your own custom test. Examples include Easy Test Maker and Class Marker (see Resources section). Some websites may offer custom test creation services for free, while others require a subscription payment.

    • 2

Add random questions and answers to your account. Once you have a good database of questions, you can then start forming them into tests.

    • 3

Choose the option to create a new test. Give the test a title, add the date and add any instructions that the test-taker will need to know prior to starting the test.

    • 4

Add questions from your account data bank to your test. Rearrange the questions to your liking and adjust the look of your test (colors, font and any photos). When you're done, save the test and retrieve the source code (or direct link) for the test from the service.

    • 5

Open the HTML document for the page where you want to embed the test or link. Paste the code into the body of the HTML document.

    • 6

Save the updated HTML file and upload it to your server. Navigate to that page on your site to assure that the test questions (or embedded link) are displaying correctly on your site.
