Students leaving high school and beginning their journey to USF are eligible to enroll at the Honors College. The first entry is a 3.8 Cumulative GPA, which is calculated from your high school career, from freshman to senior years. You also need to score at least a 1300 on your SAT, in addition to needing a minimum verbal score of 580. For example, if your score is 1300 or over but your verbal score is under 580, entry will be denied. If you took the ACT, your scores will need to be a 29 overall with an English score of 29.
Once your application to USF is accepted and you meet the requirements listed in Section 1, you automatically receive an invitation through the mail to join the Honors College. You are not automatically placed there, and must respond to the invitation as soon as you receive it. Early response is important as the Honors College has limited placement available.
Students currently enrolled at USF, or those transferring to the university, can apply for the Honors College before each semester. For these students, a 3.5 cumulative GPA is required. This GPA is factored using the last 45 credits you earned. In addition, you must have completed two semesters of college, either at USF or an accredited school.
Students already in college who are interested in the Honors College, and feel they have met the criteria for entry, may apply at USF's website. An information session between you and a panel of advisors is held where your academic records are reviewed. However, just like the first year students, availability in the Honors College is extremely limited. If you feel you are a good fit, apply early to ensure a spot with the panel.
