Requirements for Armstrong Atlantic College

Armstrong Atlantic State University belongs to the University System of Georgia. As a public college, it serves close to 7,000 undergraduate and 800 graduate students in the Savannah, Georgia area. Its campus lies close to the beach and downtown Savannah, giving students access to culture and recreation outside of the classroom. Because Armstrong Atlantic is a state school, students from Georgia pay less in tuition than out-of-state students.
  1. Undergraduate

    • Undergraduate students must submit either their high school transcripts or GED scores. Armstrong Atlantic requires that home-schooled students have at least a 2.0 grade point average in 16 units of college preparatory classes. Regular freshman applicants also need 16 college preparatory units. This includes two years of a single foreign language, three years of science and social studies, and four years of English and math. For math, applicants must take courses beyond algebra. For science, applicants must take courses in two different scientific fields. Prospective undergraduates should also submit their SAT scores. For home-schooled students, Armstrong requires scores of at least 500 verbal and 500 math. For other freshman applicants, Armstrong requires scores of at least 460 verbal and 430 math. When submitting an application, undergraduates should include their immunization records and a $25 application fee, as of 2011.

    International

    • Armstrong Atlantic asks that international students send in the International Admission Application for undergraduates, along with the $25 application fee. International students must also provide proof of immunization, school transcripts, official TOEFL and SAT or ACT scores, a copy of the biographical pages of a passport, a confidential declaration of finances and copies of a current 1-94 card, DS 2019, visa or 1-20. School transcripts should indicate that the international student had a 2.0 grade point average at minimum. For the SATs, Armstrong Atlantic requires international students to score at least 460 verbal and 430 math. For the ACTs, students need at least a 19 verbal and 18 in math. For the TOEFL, the minimum scores are 523 for written, 193 in computer and 70 in Internet.

    Transfer

    • For admission to Armstrong Atlantic State University as a transfer student, you must have 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of transferable credits. If you have fewer credits, use the same admission requirements as new freshman. Submit an application, proof of immunization, $25 fee and previous college transcripts. Armstrong requires a minimum 2.0 grade point average in prior college classwork.

    Adult Students

    • Armstrong State categorizes students as adults if they graduated from high school more than five years prior to their application for admittance. Required documents include an application and $25 fee. Adults students can submit GED scores rather than a high school transcript. Armstrong does not require adult students to submit SAT or ACT scores.

    Graduate

    • Applicants to Armstrong State's graduate program should submit the graduate application along with proof of immunization and an application fee. As of 2011, the fee is $30 and it is nonrefundable. Armstrong requires graduate applicants to submit two transcripts from the school that granted their bachelor's degree. Depending on which program applicants apply to, additional requirements may apply. Some programs require transcripts from every college attended, while other programs require portfolios or certification.
