Vancouver has more than 12 distinct neighborhoods. Some of the attractions include Chinatown, Gastown, Granville Island, West End, Yaletown, Commercial Drive, Kitslano and Punjabi Market. In the 1960s, Kitslano was Vancouver's hippy town similar to San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. The Punjabi Market neighborhood is home to Vancouver's Indo-Canadien population. Unique restaurants and shops fill the city making it an attractive place to study.
A number of art trade schools are in Vancouver, including the Art Institute of Vancouver, Pacific Audio Visual Institute and Visual College of Art and Design. Both offer courses in 3D Modeling Animation Art, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Interior Design, Web Design, Electronic Music, and professional audio visual. The Art Institute of Vancouver also includes an International Culinary School offering a series of courses in culinary arts.The John Casablancas Institute offers instruction in Hair Art Design, Make-up Artistry and Body Spa Esthetics.
Multiple trade schools in Vancouver prepare students for specialized jobs in the business world. These include Eton College, which offers courses in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Travel and Tourism and Flight Attendant Preparation. MTI Community College offers a broader range of studies in Accounting, Payroll, Early Childhood Education and Medical Assistant positions. The Vancouver Career College offers similar courses as well as instruction in Human Resources, International Trade, Montessori Teaching and Teaching English as a Second Language.
A few additional schools offer instruction in specialized trade like the PCU College of Holistic Medicine, the Canadian Tourism College and the Automotive Training Centre, which offers instruction in Auto Body Collision Repair, Auto Detailing and Automotive Sales as well as other courses relating to work in the automotive industry.
