Aveda has two programs: the cosmetology and beauty training program and the spa therapist training program. The cosmetology program lasts a little more than a year and includes training in hair, skin, nails and makeup application. The spa therapist program lasts seven months and offers two licenses: massage therapy and full-specialist esthiology.
The Aveda Institute has five campuses, all in Florida: For Lauderdale, Tallahassee, St. Petersburg, Miami and Orlando.
As of September 2009, Aveda training costs between $6,500 and $15,000 depending on the reputability of the school and its metropolitan location. Your course load also plays a factor in the cost of your education. Financial aid and scholarships are available for qualifying students.
As of 2010, the average salary of a full-time Aveda stylist/spa therapist is up to $48,000. You may choose to open a salon or move into other positions with your education such as a stylist to the stars or a fashion photo stylist. Your salary is dependent on the amount of work you put in and the position you hold.
Aveda offers continuing education courses to licensed stylists and therapists. Courses include but are not limited to: advanced cutting, editorial styling, deep tissue massage, aromaology, advanced custom color and color rituals and men's cutting.
