The Oregon Institute of Technology offers an EMT Paramedic program where students can earn an Associate of Applied Science in this field. The courses are led by emergency physicians and paramedics as well as other health care professionals. After completing the traditional academic learning phase of this program, students participate in internships in clinical settings. Oregon Institute of Technology is affiliated with major EMS agencies in Oregon, Nevada, Washington, Texas and Colorado. Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Registry EMT-Paramedic examination.

Lanier Technical College, in Oakwood, Georgia, offers five programs in the Paramedic Technology department where students can earn either a certificate, diploma or degree in the field. There are three certificate options: EMT basic, EMT plus and EMT intermediate. The basic certificate option takes three quarters to complete and provides education and training in basic life support and trauma; the plus certificate takes four quarters to complete and is the bridge program between the standard EMT program and the paramedic diploma program. The intermediate program also takes four quarters to complete and provides additional training and education above the basic level, including how to handle acute trauma and shock emergencies as well as pharmacology studies; the paramedic diploma program takes six quarters to complete while the degree program is seven quarters in length.
