Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury offers a number of drafting programs, including one in basic, 2-D computer-aided drafting. The 2-D drafting program at NVCC is an introductory, survey program designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of the trade and acquaint them with what types of careers they may pursue after completion. Classes in the program include 2-D drafting, college algebra, composition and manufacturing processes. Graduates of the program will be able to apply math to drafting and manufacturing, explain drawing elements, draft in orthographic and isometric projections, and draw sections, auxiliary views and details.

Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield provides a certificate program in computer-aided drafting and design. The course provides basic job training for those looking for entry-level employment in computer-aided drafting. The program allows graduates to transfer to associate programs at ACC in civil engineering, architecture and mechanical manufacturing. Students in this program must take courses in software applications, composition, mechanical AutoCAD and mechanical CADKEY. Students must also take a mathematical elective class.

Porter and Chester Institute is a multi-campus career institute with several locations in Connecticut. Students may pursue education in drafting at campuses in Watertown, Branford, Rocky Hill, Enfield and Stratford. The training takes a year and 1,200 classroom hours to complete when taken during the morning and afternoon. Evening classes take 18 months and 960 hours of classroom study to complete. Students may choose between two different career tracks, with one focusing on mechanical and electrical engineering and the other on civil and architectural engineering.
