    • The Medical Billing and Coding program is geared for students who plan to work in medical billing and health information management. Students will study the areas of medical coding, office management, billing software, medical terminology, health records management, insurance procedures and business communication. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded a Diploma in Medical Coding and Billing. Students who receive a diploma will also have their names submitted to the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) to become candidates for the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) examination or the Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P) examination. The program can be completed in eight months for full-time students and 16 months for part-time students under normal circumstances. Financial aid is available and job placement services are offered for those who qualify.

In addition to classroom training, student will complete an externship under the tutelage of a physician, nurse or other health services professional. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded a Certificate in Medical Billing and Coding.
