Established in 1947, Wallace Community College is a public trade school with four locations, including the Wallace Branch in Dothan. Accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the college grants degrees and certificates in air-conditioning and refrigeration, automotive technology, cabinetmaking, carpentry, child-development, computer science, cosmetology, masonry, plumbing, welding, nursing, medical assisting and respiratory therapy.
Classes are held during day and evening hours, as well as online. Federal and state loans and grants, scholarships and veteran's benefits are available for qualified students. The college's Career Services department offers job-placement assistance. There are more than 15 groups and activities based on campus for student participation.

The Carroll High School Career Center is a secondary trade school located in Ozark, approximately 24 miles from Dothan (about 31 minutes by automobile). The school offers vocational training programs in agricultural construction, business, cosmetology, drafting, electronics and avionics, family and consumer science, health care science and recreational turf and landscape management.
Students spend half of their school days taking classes at the Career Center and the other half completing academic courses at their local public high school. Training consists of classroom-based instruction and hands-on laboratory work. Most programs require an internship, as well. The school provides career counseling for all students. Carroll High School Career Center allows students who live within the center's service area to attend free of charge.

Allied Career Training, LLC is a private, for-profit trade school located in Dothan. The school provides instruction in the safe operation and handling of heavy equipment used for construction, such as earth-movers and bulldozers. Students gain practice operating machinery on the school's 20-acre practice site, performing activities such as digging trenches, grading land and loading dump trucks. By the time students complete the program, they have accrued 80 hours of experience operating heavy machinery.
The school is accredited by the National Center for Construction Education and Research. Private lending and payment plans are available to help students manage tuition costs. The school provides job search assistance.
