The Colorado Institute of Music Instrument Technology (CIOMIT) is, as the name implies, a school devoted to instrument repair. Classes begin year-round. The campus is located near Denver, Colorado, in Castlerock, Colorado. Because only six students are allowed to study each semester, it is recommended that interested students apply as soon as possible. For those outside the Colorado area, CIOMIT also offers online courses.

The Minnesota State College Southeast Technical school offers a program in Musical Instrument Repair and Construction. The program, which teaches repair on woodwinds, brass and percussion, lasts for nine months, after which students will earn their Band Instrument Repair diploma. The cost per student for the 2009/2010 school year ran about $8,215, which covers tuition, requisite tools, books, and other miscellaneous expenses. The school boasts a 94 percent placement for graduates. The school is located in Red Wing, Minnesota, and only offers on-site classes.

Washington's Renton Technical College offers a program in Band Instrument Repair Technology, which qualifies as an Associates in Applied Science. Applicants for the program must be at least 18 years old, and should have either their high school diploma or their GED. Students must play a brass or woodwind instrument, and they must take the COMPASS test. The degree requires 72 credit hours, 20 of which are General Education courses.
