Universiti Sains Malaysia, known as USM, has a School of Aerospace Engineering where students can specialize in aeronautical engineering, among other subjects. The school began as an Aerospace Engineering Unit before developing into its current incarnation in 1999. The school aims to equip graduates not only with expertise in their chosen area of study but also with a sense of creativity. Courses cover the theory behind engineering as well as practical skills, and students also can dip into subjects such as languages and computing. Graduates go on to jobs in the private sector and government, according to the school's website.

Individuals can pursue diplomas in aeronautical engineering at Singapore Polytechnic's School of Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering, which was introduced in 2002. The three-year course, nicknamed "DARE," grounds students in the principles of engineering before they are immersed in the details of aeronautics in the program's last two years. Graduates have moved on to jobs in the Singapore Air Force and at engineering companies. Some students take their studies further, applying to international universities such as those in the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada.
