Dental Courses in Sweden

Sweden has several dental education programs and they are always aiming at maintaining high educational standards. Students come from all over the world to study in Sweden as it has a good reputation for higher learning. English is not a problem in most of these Universities as many of their courses are available in English medium. Be sure to inquire about the language when contacting the University or Institute you are interested in, as courses taught in English may not always be available.
  1. Karolinska Institutet

    • This prestigious medical university offers a full course in dental technology and offers a three-year course in dental technician works. They are also offering courses on dental hygiene, which is a two-year program aimed at the scientific and empirical knowledge of dental hygiene. This well-known university offers more than 200 different courses on dental care depending on your field of interest. The Karolinska Institutet also has a foreign exchange student program the caters to students from other countries whose universities are affiliated with the Karolinska Institutet.

    University of Gothenburg

    • The Institute of Odontology at the University of Gothenburg was established in 1967 and it has become one of Sweden's leading institutes educating and doing research in the dental field. The Institute offers undergraduate and post graduate courses on Dental Hygiene, Dental Technology and Dentistry. It also offers a post-graduate doctorate program to achieve a Ph.D. Most courses are taught in the Swedish language, but the institute requests that students contact them with their specific educational needs, as they can prepare on-demand courses if needed. Likewise, the courses offered in a semester may change depending on students and their educational needs.     Umea University

    • This university was established in 1963, and one year later the College of Dentistry of Sweden joined hands with the university to create its Department of Odontology. The Department of Odontology offers basic education and postgraduate research studies in dentistry. Their dentistry program is a full time five-year course which will lead to a degree of Master of Science in Dental Surgery. The Department also offers courses on Dental Hygiene for a duration of three years. At the end of this period the student will be issued a diploma in the Dental Hygiene program and this can lead to a Bachelor degree. The Department also offers postgraduate doctorate courses and specialty studies on the different aspects of Odontology.
