How to Study in Pakistan

Studying in another country helps a student to attain a more global perception. Living abroad helps you to understand different cultures, ways of living and learn new languages. To study or complete a course in Pakistan, follow the steps below.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide what kind of course you want to study in Pakistan. Choose from undergraduate, graduate, post graduate or higher studies in any subject of your choice. Research colleges and universities ahead of time and make a list of potential educational institutions.

    • 2

Research the admission criteria and related requirements and apply to the chosen institution at least six months in advance so you can meet all requirements before the academic session starts. Download the admission form from the website, study it carefully and fill it out to the best of your knowledge.

    • 3

Attach the following documents to the application form: passport size photographs, proof of educational background and permission letter from parents if you are less than 18 years of age. Contact the institution if you want to transfer your existing educational credits or you qualify for a scholarship.

    • 4

Take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) if you are applying for Masters level or higher education. Send all forms and documents along with the first semester fee. Once the application is approved, the school will send a confirmation letter.

    • 5

Follow up with the Pakistan embassy or consulate in your home country once you get the admission letter. Submit the original admission letter from the institution, photocopy of your passport, passport size photographs and the educational credentials.

    • 6

Receive the student visa from the Pakistani embassy. Leave your country one month before the academic session starts. Report to the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) once you reach the country. Arrange for lodging inside or outside of campus.

    • 7

Register with the U.S. embassy or consulate located in Pakistan to let them know of your whereabouts. This helps the U.S. personnel contact you in an emergency or if your family is unable to reach you for a period of time.
