Admission Requirements for the University of Massachusetts Masters in Business Administration

The University of Massachusetts offers a Masters in Business Administration online and at four of its campuses. Each campus has its own requirements for application and entrance. The Isenberg School of Management, at the main Amherst campus, has been rated one of the "Top 10 Best Business Best Business Schools" in the 2010 edition of the Princeton Review.
  1. UMASS Amherst---Isenberg School of Management

    • You must submit the university's standard graduate school application form, available on the school's website, have a baccalaureate degree and provide official transcripts from all previous colleges you attended. The Isenberg School will accept scores from either of the two graduate entrance exams: GMAT or GRE. Submit two letters of recommendation, one professional letter and one academic recommendation. A resume or CV is also required. If English is your second language, you must submit scores from the English proficiency exam, TOEFL. As of 2010, application fees are $40 for Massachusetts residents, $50 for nonresidents and $65 for international students. Isenberg offers full-time and online programs for its MBA students.

    UMASS Boston: College of Management

    • Complete the university's standard graduate school application available on the website. In addition, you must submit proof of a baccalaureate degree and official transcripts from all colleges attended. Submit a resume highlighting your career and education; three letters of recommendation from both professional and educational sources, official GMAT scores and two additional essays. The first essay, in one page, should describe why UMASS Boston is a good fit for you. The second essay, in two to three pages, should highlight your preparation for graduate study and how the degree will further your personal and professional development. TOEFL scores are required if English is your second language. Interviews may be required. As of 2010, application fees are $40 for state residents and $60 for all others.

    UMASS Lowell: School of Management

    • The Lowell School of Management requires undergraduate completion of microeconomics and statistics for admission, but the most important measurement for admission is your management decision making skills and academic ability. Submit the university's standard graduate school application available on the website and all official college transcripts. The results from the GMAT must be submitted ad three professional letters of recommendation pertaining to employment are required. Submit a resume showing a minimum two years of full-time, related field employment and write a one page essay discussing both your academic and career goals. TOEFL results must be submitted by international students who speak English as a second language. The application fee, as of 2010 is $50 for all applicants. UMass Lowell also offers an online MBA program.

    UMASS Dartmouth: Charlton College of Business

    • Admissions requirements include submitting the university's graduate school application form, available on the school website. Other admissions requirements include submission of all official college transcriptions and proof of undergraduate degree, the GMAT or an equivalent graduate entrance exam score and two letters of recommendation---one from an academic faculty member and the other from an employer. You must also write and submit a short essay---200-300 words---discussing your motivations and goals. A resume must be submitted as well. Non-English speaking applicants must submit TOEFL scores. Admission fees as of 2010 are $40 for Massachusetts residents and $60 for all other applicants.
