Capella University requires that applicants are at least 24 years old to apply for the Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Public Administration degrees. The age requirement is a result of these programs being considered "senior professional" programs. Military, veteran and applicants entering the program with 90 or more credits are exempt from this requirement.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for entry into bachelor or certificate level Capella programs; an associate's degree is required to enter nursing degree programs. For post-bachelor certificates, a bachelor's degree is required from a U.S. (or international) Department of Education accredited school; students must meet minimum grade point average of 2.30. Post-master's level certificates require a master's degree from a U.S. (or international) Department of Education accredited school, with a minimum grade point average of 3.00.
To apply for admission to the school, an application must be submitted along with an official transcript from the minimum required education institution (high school, college or grad school). A resume must be submitted containing an accurate summary of your work history. For some programs, a letter of recommendation may be required if minimum admission requirements are not met. Please read over the Capella University admissions requirements document for further details.
It is important that international applicants speak, read and write fluent English in order to succeed and do well at the school. If you are an applicant whose first language is not English, you must take an exam (Test of English as a Foreign Language) to demonstrate your abilities to learn in the English language; a passing score is 550 for the paper test, and 213 for the computer test.
