How to Calculate Grade Point Averages From Two Transcripts

If you went to two different colleges while getting a degree, you may need to find your grade point average for both schools combined if you are applying for either a job or graduate school. If you have both of your transcripts, then the process is very simple. Before computing the average, you should check both transcripts for accuracy. If there are any errors on your transcripts, then your average will be off. Your registrars office will help you correct any errors.

Instructions

    • 1

Find your total quality points on each transcript. This amount should be near your GPA. For example sake, we'll assume your quality points are 234 for one school and 153 for the other.

    • 2

Find your total credits taken for each college. For our example, we'll assume one college is 80 and the other is 27.

    • 3

Add together your total quality points and then add together your total credits taken. In the example, 234 plus 153 equals 387. Then, 80 plus 27 equals 107.

    • 4

Divide your total quality points by your total credits taken to calculate your GPA. In the example, 387 divided by 107 equals a GPA of 3.61.
