Sign up to take the SAT 10 at least 4 months ahead of time. This will give you ample time to begin brushing up on all the information that may be included in the test.
Buy an SAT 10 study guide, which you can find at most major bookstores or online through the SAT's official website. SAT study guides offer information on test format and subject matter, and sample questions, packets and tools for learning all the things you'll need to know for the SAT.
Set up a study schedule that fits in the 4 months prior to the test and incorporates all subject matter. Plan to study 5 days a week, or more if you feel you won't burn out, at least a couple of hours a day. Don't try to learn a broad number of subjects all at once; take it one at a time to ensure you grasp the key information on each subject.
Join an SAT study group or course. Ask officials at your current school or look online to find a study group in your area. Studying in a group can help you, as other group members can explain to you any information you do not understand and can quiz you and one another on facts. Join a course or group that meets at least once a week.
Take practice quizzes for each subject after you have learned about it to ensure you understand the information and can move on to the next subject. Most SAT preparation books and packets will come with sample quizzes, so ensure the one you've purchased does.
Take practice SAT tests with a timer as you will be timed for the exam, to prepare a strategy for how you will handle each section of the exam. If you notice you aren't finishing in time or are rushed, try changing the way in which you handle each section until you are comfortable with taking the test in the allotted time.
Get a good night's sleep the night prior to the exam to ensure your brain will be in tip-top order. Also ensure that you eat a good breakfast so that you'll have ample energy during the examination.
Go to the exam prepared with two number two pencils, your driver's license or other identification as well as your social security card, and your student identification number if you have one.
