The University of Montana offers a Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program that will prepare students to become commissioned officers in the U.S. Army, Army National Guard or the U.S. Army reserve upon graduation. It is a four-year program that is divided into two courses. The first two years will be the basic course and the last two years of the program is intended for the advanced course. In the basic course, students are taught about management principles, military history and other basic military information. The advanced course covers tactics, professionalism and further leadership development. The school also offers scholarships to outstanding and deserving students if eligible.
