Weigh your tubes and bottles. If a breakage of tubes has occurred during a centrifugation cycle, the bottles might have been imbalanced. Always weigh all tubes and bottles and make sure the opposite tubes weigh the same.
Balance your bottles and tubes. It is essential that you place a balance for each bottle you use. Without a proper balance, the centrifuge will be imbalanced and unstable. This can break the bottles as well as the motor of the unit.
Ensure the centrifuge cups, or tube holders, are clean and empty. Even a small piece of glass can prevent proper fitting of your tube and the cup, which can lead to imbalance and breakage of tubes or motor.
Place the centrifuge on a firm and level bench. This will prevent any unwanted shaking or movement that can affect the functioning.
Check electrical cord for breakage and make sure the outlets have current if you cannot turn power onto the unit. Switch the on-off switch off and then back on to see if this will bring power to the unit.
Maintain the centrifuge regularly. Refer to the product manual to see what are the recommended maintenance routines, such as oiling, and how often these should be performed.
Replace the motor or other parts if your centrifuge is older than 10 years and is not functioning normally. Call for authorized maintenance technician to check the condition of the unit and whether some parts may need to be replaced.
