Robert Barlett, a major historian of medieval colonialism; Dipesh Chakrabarty, an influential historian of South Asian history; and Bernard Wasserstein, a scholar of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, are faculty members. The university is home to 113 research centers, including the Oriental Institute and the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, which offer unique resources to history scholars. Kenneth T.
