Harvard University's Divinity School offers a doctor of theology degree. The school provides specializations in: Hebrew Bible/Old Testament; New Testament and early Christian studies; history of Christianity; theology; ethics; comparative religion; religion and society; and religion, gender, culture. Candidates must complete coursework, exams, dissertations as well as prospectuses to graduate from the program. A master's degree in divinity is required for admission, and admitted students are able to receive tuition (for six years) and a stipend for three years that can be used for living expenses.

Brite Divinity School awards a doctor of ministry degree. The three-year program includes core, primary and secondary courses. An example core course is: Theological Reflection for Ministry. To apply, a student needs a minimum grade point average of 3.25, a master's degree in divinity, personal statement and official transcripts. Students are admitted into the program during the fall and spring each year. In addition, the school's program committee will assist with financial aid, determining how much money is awarded to each student.

Master's International School of Divinity offers a dissertation-free doctor of biblical studies. The 44-credit program allows learners to engage in a variety of courses: Advanced Spiritual Warfare, The Philosophical Problem of Evil, Theology of the Old Testament, Advanced Systematic Theology and Application of Apologetics. Prospective students must have earned a master's degree before admission. In addition, students may reduce the number of credits to graduate by showing they have prior experience. Financial aid is not available; however, the school offers a flexible tuition plan.
